God is not a natural being but a principle that is responsible for gravity in its various forms–the falling of the apple whilst the earth revolves around the sun. God is also responsible for light travelling in straight lines unless affected by an external cause–(God is responsible for all forms of motion(all external causes) and change and the orderly form this takes). Newton in fact wrote more about religion than science and this was not inconsistent because he had basically an Aristotelian view of God which Kant would later embrace and elaborate upon in his metaphysics of morals. Aristotle and Kant however would have thought his mathematical descriptions of phenomena less important than his more philosophical justifications of the natural laws he proposed.

  1. Aw, this was an exceptionally nice post. Taking the time and actual effort to make a very good articleÖ but what can I sayÖ I procrastinate a lot and never manage to get nearly anything done.
